Autonomous public transit is here! Across Canada, cities are looking into the usability and efficiency of autonomous public transit. The City of Candiac will be the guinea pig for Canada's first autonomous shuttle using public roads. In Alberta, a pilot project is set to launch in the fall involving a shuttle travelling on separate roadways. With Quebec's recent updates to their Highway Code coming into effect, governments and companies have been able to begin testing these vehicles on public roads.

Members of the public will be able to ride the shuttle for free starting at the end of August. While the project is set to run for 12 months, it will not be open to the public during the winter months but will still run.
