Beaver is sorry for leaving 3500 Saskatchewan residents without power

Lights go on, lights go off. You can't explain that.

In a very Canadian turn of events, a beaver was responsible for leaving thousands of SaskPower customers without power. A spokesperson for the SaskPower said wildlife interactions with power equipment aren’t uncommon, and can often lead to issues. Wildlife is responsible for roughly a third of all outages in the province, he said, while the other two thirds are largely caused by weather or aging infrastructure.

“About 3,500 customers were without power for that full five hours,” Jackle said. “Our crews managed to reroute that power and they’ll be making some permanent fixes in coming days.”
